Kultur 3

The article Bureaucracy Gone Awry seems as if the German way of organization is too much of a hassle. For instance, the Leitz Ordner and the Meldebescheinigung sound like great ideas, but if one is forgetful or frequently disorganized s/he will probably have a hard time keeping up with both of these items.
Since I have lived on military bases for the majority of my life I can relate to the Love Thy Neighbor article because you will never know who your neighbors are and will generally have to deal with whoever they are. The bases also have Ruhezeit, and rules about the sidewalks/streets and shoveling snow.
German patriotism seems to be the exact opposite of American patriotism per the article Germany's Patriotism Problem because Americans are obsessed with flying any time of flag, whether its the U.S national flag or their college alma mater flag they make sure others are aware of their patriotism.
The Brennpunkt Kultur articles were all informative and thought provoking. For instance, I learned all sorts of new information about the history of Wien, such as it used to be the capital of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, and it was home to the likes of Sigmund Freud and Mozart. The brennpunkt kultur about how one's profession is able to be decided by grade 4 was thought-provoking because it is hard to believe that a child in grade 4 will know what s/he wants to do in life. It was interesting to read about Österreich and how its a country of great industrial achievement due to the major cities Graz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck that serve as the heart of the country.
