Kapitel 10 Texte.
The Chapter 10 articles expand our knowledge on German traditions. In Germany, watching the short film 'Dinner for One' does share similarities with America. We also have our fair share of traditional films, especially during the Christmas season. I found it funny at the end where the tables turned and we would ask 'Have you seen The Sounds of Music?'
The next article, Sorry We're Closed, also showcases German tradition and its similarity to America. A Sunday for both countries have practically the same meaning; peace, quiet, and the utmost relaxation. Most businesses are closed or close early, and it is good to see the Germans take a break from their busy lives. However, I am surprised to see many businesses close fairly early in the evening. A lot of American businesses go through into the night, and some places are 24 hours. I believe having some businesses open late has its merits, such as grocery stores/restaurants/places where a consumer would find themselves after work.
Then came Booze Brothers, an article that illustrates the true meaning of Father's Day in Germany. Lots of dads in America are fine with a small gift here and there and a nice relaxing day with no worries, but Germans are hyped up. Either way, it is good to see hard-working fathers taking a day off to act silly and have fun.
