Kultur Kapital 11 Derek Emelander

I found the timeline to be very interesting, as I have always enjoyed learning about the history of anything. I have always been fairly informed about European history but there were definitely a few events on there that I was unaware of.

The article about the wall in the minds of the German people suprised me. I had no idea that there are people that preferred the wall being there and in fact would want it reconstructed.

I found it funny how the differences in the parts of Germany sort of mimic the American north and south.

"Deutschland: von der Monarchie zur Demokratie"
1 - its interesting that Germany has always had problems staying unified, and have switched governments so many times.

2 - part 2 consisted of the post WWII pre Wall years. I still find it interesting that Germany was essentially split up between the winners of the war, as a sort of prize.

3 - part 3 was about the Cold War years in Germany. I learned that the Wall was actually built around West Germany to keep East Germans out and not the other way around.

Leipzig und Dresden:
These are 2 rapidly growing cities in the State of Saxony. Leipzig is at the crossroads of 2 medieval trading routes and is a center for exchanging ideas. Dresden is the capital and was targeted during WWII by the allies.
