Kultur 1

After I read the articles, it seems that Germans are impatient, picky, and meticulous. They will point out the things that will make your life worse, rather than make it better. In Germany, when it comes to driving a car, the law is the law, no ifs, ands, or buts. A simple drive across town should be taken with precaution, because even a small mistake (such as forgetting your turn signal) could result in loud Germans and unnecessary tickets. This is why one of the articles suggests using public transportation, especially if you are a student with eine Semesterticket. One the other hand, you won't meet loud Germans while you're in line grocery shopping. During check out, Germans would rather walk the walk than talk the talk, especially when a new register opens up. I also found it odd that people had to pay to use grocery store bags. It is easy to understand that this approach is more environmentally friendly, but, where I work, we reward our guests for bringing in their own bags, rather than forcing them to. From what I have read, Germans have different approaches than Americans when it comes to common courtesy.
