As usual these Kultur-Texts showed some very interesting parts of German culture. I thought it was funny that the German "low-cost shopping centers", which seemed a lot like our Costco or Sam's Club, require little if any at all manners when shopping there. You are also required to either bring your own shopping bags, die Einkaufstasche oder das Einkaufsnetz oder der Einkaufskorb, or you have buy plastic bags at the store, die Tragetasche, and rent a cart for your groceries, der Einkaufswagen. Also it seems like if you don't have an impeccable knowledge of the German road laws you're either going to have a massive amount of fines or be dead. The article about lines could definitely help me out as I would like to travel to Germany at some point, so now I know that to get where I need to I just have to force my way up to the counter. I wish that student IDs in the United States could get you as much as a Studentenausweis can do for you in Germany with all of the many discounts on entertainment and even housing costs.
