Kapitel 9 Kultur Texte Zach Schmitt

The Kultur- Texte fur Kapitel 9 made me not want to live in Germany at all.

Bureaucracy Gone Awry: I am not a very organized person and never know where papers I need are and I hate how long job applications are. After reading this article I was worried about being able to actually get a job over there, it seems like its not worth all of the trouble. It seems like in order to be able to say you can do anything you first need to take a class in it and be able to show them a piece of paper that you took the class.

Love Thy Neighbor: I was shocked at how many cases were brought to court concerning neighbors. The complaint about croaking frogs was downright ridiculious. And allowing a dog to bark on 10-minute intervals? How would one go about bringing that into effect? Germans are just way to into making rules and laws to follow. Just try to be considerate of other people and not overreact to little things.

Germany's Patriotism Problem: Living in America I have a level of pride for my country just like most other Americans do. To read that saying " I love Germany" is visionary is a shock to me. Sure some huge mistakes have been made in the past, but almost all of those people are dead now and the Germans are trying to atone for what had happened. There is no reason that Germans should not be patriotic. The United States had similar incounters with the Native Americans, yet we are still very patriotic.
