Much of the content is repetetive, and can be divided into these topics:
The Ostalgie: I can understand the feeling of east Germans' for their past life under DDR, for people who experience major social or life changes would typically have this sort of nostalgia. Life is completely different now, and you might, at some point, feel that the way it used to be is better than present. I'm nostalgic for some socialist features which have already faded in China but prevalent in the 90s. People from the 70s said the social atmosphere was even better then.
Reunification of Germany: I am more interested in the story of Bismarck and the first reunification conducted by this Eiserner Kanzler, although it is only briefly discussed in the textbook, so I did a little more study on him. His political and diplomatic manipulation were fantastisch and I think he might be one among the greatest diplomatists and militarists. On the other hand, it is interesting to see how Germany evolved as a divided country after War II and how people were reacting to those changes. The roles that other western countries and Soviet Union have played remain a question to me.
Difference between Germans: I guess German people generally have some sort of bitterness in their personality. Although the regional things happen worldwide, Germans have a particularly strong one.

1.
Raben gestikulieren wie Kleinkinder
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/natur/0,1518,800802,00.html
2.
Schildkröten stimmen sich vor dem Schlüpfen ab
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/natur/0,1518,800760,00.html

On the "Father's Day" article: it's somewhat hilarious that German people go this far on what's supposed to be a lovely traditional day. However, the image of a drunkard fits more into the stereotype of what's known as German.
"Dinner for Who": Bizarre. What a weird sense of humor people must have to watch this same clip year after year, nationwide? And the high point is that this short film is not even in their mother language.
One of those travel blogs of Basel:

The blogger seemed to have a really nice day in Basel. He met some friendly and helpful people inviting him to dinner or help him navigate in the city. This blog makes me feel that Swiss must be a heavenly place.
"Die Brüder Grimm" is also interesting to know, and I really like to read the book if possible (best if translated). German people are really good storytellers, especially of fairy tales(Captain Bluebear is a very good example).

(Honestly, I hope a kid like you can be not so boring.)

(What you see here is a universal humanoid combat machine. We call it Evangelion. This one here is Evangelion Number 1.)

15:36 "Entweder du versuchst jetzt, oder du verschwindest, verstanden?"
(Either that you try it on now, or you leave, understood?)

18:38 "Ich mache es. Ich steige in dieses Ding."
(I'll do it. I'll pilot this thing.)

For "The German Certificate Fetish", it's no wonder Germans demand certificates from people for almost everything, if you think of their rigorous nature - the only thing unthinkable is how they can possibly keep track of these papers. Take myself as an example, I lose some paper document almost once every year, while I don't really have that many to keep. If one does have those and will be in trouble if any is lost, how are people able to live normally? If I were German I must be checking all my stuff every single day. For "Love Thy Neighbour", I think rigid laws are indeed necessary, for it's really difficult to tell right from wrong in a typical neighbour dispute. For "Just Don't Fly the Flag", somehow I can understand them. This traumatic history must be a shame to most German people. This is kind of like our situation. While CP remains in power in China, people are still unable to fully let out their resentment at all this patriotism thing but they are getting more outspoken - the national ideology has taken the lives of too many, that's why it should be abandoned. German people got rid of the "patriotism", however they are probably more ashamed that they were once deceived by it, and this is why they want to completely block this thing out forever.

Steiner's attack was an order!)
I was never in an academy, and still conquered the whole Europe, only relying on myself!

I was a little surprised when I read the article on German people's fear for draft. Although people in China are less aware of the open windows, we would still carefully make sure that there's no current directly on our body for a long time, especially when sleeping, because we do attribute many minor diseases (including Durchfall) to a constant draft. In ancient Chinese, cold is literally "wind chill", which speaks for some understanding of the disease.
On the Germanic attitude towards diseases, I would say it's perfectly true that medicine is often double-edged to people's health. Human immune system is fully capable of obliterating many more diseases than people have believed, as long as they allow it some time to self-improve instead of instantly using medicine. Although you won't receive the effect immediately, over a decade or so it really shows.
Other things about German universities are no big news at all. Being an eternal student is very natural if you think of the social welfare in Germany and many other European countries. People lack that motivation to survive, and it's a little ironic that people may earn less if they choose to work instead of being a student or living on the dole.

While textbook Kultur Texte provides, as usuall, positive information about German life, the three articles are mainly about the rough part of living in Germany, the subtle Ordnung of driving、shopping and so on. I was a little intimidated by some of the stories, and I wonder if those are exaggerated facts (you get a ticket or you die!). It's kind of interesting to know that German people also have this terrible lining custom, since I lived in China for the past nineteen years and I just realized that maybe we're not the worst people standing in a line. I also wonders how come German drivers can drive as fast as 200kph, which to me is like flying.
